It's Monday! What are you reading (38)

, by Kt Clapsadl

It's Monday! What Are You Reading, hosted by Book Journey, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

Here's what I read this past week:

Skeleton CrewThe Vampire Dimitri (Book of the Regency Draculia)Ordinary AngelsThe Goddess Test (Harlequin Teen)

Skeleton Crew by Cameron Haley (Early Review)
The Vampire Dimitri by Colleen Gleason (Early Review)
Ordinary Angels by India Drummond (Review and Interview)
The Goddess Test by Aimee Carter (Early Review)

I loved the first book in the Underworld Cycle series by Cameron Haley. So I was thrilled to read Skeleton Crew early. This book is even better than the first and definitely is a series that you want to check out. It is Urban Fantasy at it strictest with no real focus on romance, but the plot an action are more than plenty to keep you completely entertained.

After reading The Vampire Voss I had a feeling that I would like the next book even more. The Vampire Dimitri was very enjoyable, and I loved reading about their journey. The next book in the series is about Narcise, and I'm not sure how I feel about her character yet, but I have a feeling the author will sway me in the end.

India Drummond contacted me about reading her debut novel, Ordinary Angels. The title intrigued me, and once I read the description, I knew this would be a book that I had to read. Ghosts, Angels, murder, and suspicion are just a few of the elements of this book. You'll definitely want to check it out. India was also kind enough to do an interview which you can check out here.

Finally, I read an early copy of The Goddess Test. I love greek mythology so I had a sneaking suspicion that I would enjoy this book. I was surprised to realize that it was like no other mythology based book that I had ever read, but I think this helped to keep it interesting. I especially liked the determination of the main character and the uniqueness of the situation.

My upcoming list:

Interview with Cameron Haley
The Restorer by Amanda Stevens (Early Review and Interview)
Twilight Prophecy by Maggie Shayne (Early Review)
Ascension by Sable Grace (Early Review)
Bumped by Megan McCafferty (Early Review)

  2. Now I want to find out about Skeleton Crew - is this adult or young adult? I love to have a book occasionally, that does not contain the romance - it's refreshing. :) Not that I'm a prude, but after reading for 40 years, you get a little tired of the romance stuff. sometimes. :)

  3. This is an adult novel. However, I would suggest starting with Mob Rules so you get a better foundation before reading this one. Thanks!

  4. Oh man! I almost bought Mob Rules the other day, then felt like I was spending too much (I had like, five books in my hand) and I put it back. I'm going back to the store!

  5. LOL - I DID buy Mob Rules. I looked at my older posts, and there it is, among the books I splurged on. So, I'll be reading it pretty soon. Then I'll go looking for Skeleton Crew (see what happens when you age a bit? you forget which books you bought!)

  6. I am completely dependent on goodreads and shelfari to keep track of my books. Otherwise I would wind up purchasing multiple copies of books that I didn't remember buying before. ;)
