New Author Challenge 2012

Feb 02, 2012 by Kt Clapsadl

Here are the guidelines:
  1. The challenge will run from January 1, 2012 through December 31, 2012.
  2. Since this is an author challenge, there is no restriction on choosing your novels. They can definitely be from other challenges. However, the authors must be new to you and, preferably from novels.  Anthologies are a great way to try someone new, but only a third of your new authors can be from anthologies.
  3. I want this to be an easy challenge, so you can pick to do either 15, 25 or 50 new authors.  It all depends on how fast you read and how adventurous you want to be. If you reach your goal halfway through the year, don’t stop.  Any new author you try can be added to Mr. Linky.  We all want to know about your new experience.
  4. After reading your new author, write your review and then come back here and add your link to Mr. Linky.  Make sure you include your name and the author, but adding the title is completely up to you.
  5. Bloggers or Non-Bloggers alike are welcome. You don’t have to have a site to participate. You can link up via Facebook, GoodReads or even Amazon if you’d like.

Last year I read books from 94 new to me authors. Holy cow!! And to think I was worried I wouldn't hit 50!!! So with nervousness, I'm going to shoot for about the same number again, give or take a few. Officially I'm going for 90 :) Wish me luck!

This sounds like a great challenge! Good luck with it. I am trying to focus a bit more on reading new to me authors so this will be a perfect challenge to help me with that!

Wow! That;s what I call a suggestion! Will be glad to participate! As I'll be really glad to reach your number of read books :)! I have a lot in my list, but not sure I'll be able to read them all in so "short" time, combining it with writing, illustrating, etc... .
I'll be glad to add a suggestion of mine as well, which every reader, blogger, author, etc will like i guess: use sites like zazzle.com, cafepress. com, fiverr? They could be a good way to promote your works/blog, etc and to help "remove" stupidity in the streets like headlines on t-shirts, fridge-magnets, cups, etc: My Boyfriend kisses Better Than Yours, FBI - female body inspector, etc. Not everything we see and think of should be about sex, right?
It would be much better if there were more nice pictures (even of mythical creatures), good thoughts, poems (from any genre are welcome I guess), etc? I'm allanbard there, I use some of my illustrations, thoughts, poems from my books (like: One can fight money only with money, Even in the hottest fire there's a bit of water, Money are among the last things that make people rich, or
Let's watch the moon, let's meet the sun!
Let's hear soon the way the Deed was done!
Let's listen to the music the shiny crystals played,
let's welcome crowds of creatures good and great...
etc). I guess such lines sound and look much better than the usual we see every day? Best wishes to all book lovers! Let the wonderful noise of the sea always sounds in your ears! (a greeting of the water dragons' hunters - my Tale Of The Rock Pieces).
