This Week's Question:

Show Me Your Cover: What are some of the worst book covers, but hold some of the best stories inside? Don't be embarrassed, show us your cover!

I love this series, but I cannot stand the covers. They are just boring and do not stand out at all. If I saw this in a book store, not knowing what it was, I would walk right on by.

This is another series that I’m not thrilled about the covers. In this case it isn’t that I strongly dislike them, but more blaze towards them. They are just boring, which is a shame because the content is anything but. I realize they were probably trying to portray the more sensual nature of the books, but I think they missed the overall mark.

I really dislike all of the covers in this series, but this one definitely tops the list. I mean come on! What is going on there? It just looks like a mess with an albino chick. Bleck! Also, I don’t know if I would consider the book to be one of the best stories, as the series has been slowly dwindling for me, but I have to give it props for the throwback to the early Anita days.

These covers stink. Plain and simple. They are nothing compared to the books.

So it isn’t that this cover is bad, it’s just that it doesn’t match the story. At all. Sophie is not a kick butt character in any way shape or form like these covers would lead you to believe. It drives me batty!

I’m not the biggest fan of the covers for this series, but this one is the worst. Georgina is supposed to be utter beauty and perfection, I mean the girl can choose her shape and features. I just don’t think this image portrays that, she just looks too plain to me.

I have to do one cover on the opposite side of things:

I love this cover. I mean isn’t it gorgeous. Too bad the story didn’t live up to it. In fact it earned an extremely rare 1 butterfly rating from me.  I was just expecting so much more than what I got. Thank goodness I had received a review e-copy, because I would have bought that book purely for the cover, and then really regretted it!

How about you guys? What are some of your picks disappointing covers that don’t live up to the story?

I've come across Magic Bites once already--I think it may be on this list a lot! lol
Sad to hear about the story behind the Tris & Izzie cover, because it's truly one of my faves ever!
And I don't know what's going on with Richelle Mead's covers, but they're all kinda just eh, huh? :)

The Magic Bites cover is just the first of the bad covers in that series. I really don't understand the cover artist at all.
OOh nice picks! I kinda like the cartoony look every now and then! Really like Victoria Laurie's covers that are cartoony on her series.

The Georgina covers were never my fave either. But I still love the series! Don't really care for the MM paperback ones either. Becaue that just doesn't seem like Georgina to me either, but I guess her image does change more on those. Can't remember them really.

Georgina just looks too vampy. She's supposed to be voluptuous and stunning not vampiric.
Those cover you have listed do look pretty bad. I had a hard time coming up with one for my list, but it was a lot easier to think of the opposite one like you did here! I didn't add one to my post, but Above would definitely be my choice.

I've been hearing bad things about Above lately. It's a shame since the cover is so pretty.
I actually don't hate the Sookie covers. I think they are fitting for the books, but certainly would never fit the TV show which is much much darker in tone than the books.

I've never been a fan of that kind of art, so that's probably why I don't care for them.
Huh. I'm a total Richelle Mead fangirl, but I don't think I would pick up her Georgina books if that's what their covers looked like!

The Georgina books are awesome. Since you are a Richelle fan, I would definitely recommend reading them. Just ignore the covers. ;)
