This Week's Question:

Authors Are Our Celebrities: Have you ever contacted an author you admired? How did that experience go? If not, which author would you love to have a chat with?

I know authors are really just everyday people, but it still can be so nerve wracking to contact them. I've contacted several authors, and each and every one has been incredibly awesome to deal with. They are so supporting of book bloggers, it's amazing. In fact many of them are as excited about us as we are about them. That being said, I doubt I'll get over my anxiety anytime soon. I'm always a shaking nervous wreck when I go to signings and meet the authors in person. I do much better talking to them online, but it can be so embarrassing.

Here's the author interactions that I've hosted on my blog so far.:
(The list would probably be much longer if I could get over my irrational fear at approaching authors. I've never had a bad experience yet, so you would think I would ask more. I mean what's the worst they could say? No? *sighs* I'm going to try and work harder at this.)

I am with you on the irrational nervousness...you'd think that over the internet I would be less shy...but no lol

I think shyness is just simply ingrained in us no matter the situation. ><
I completely understand how nerve-wracking it can be to contact an author! It's hard to predict what their reaction is going to be - and because you love them and their writing so much, you end up just wanting it to be wonderful. Glad you've had great experiences though!

Maybe someday it will be easier, but as of now I cringe whenever it comes to it. I very much prefer answering when an author asks for help in a blog post or whatever. It just makes me feel a little less like I'm bothering them since they asked in the first place. *shrugs*
