It's Monday What Are You Reading (107)

Aug 06, 2012 by Kt Clapsadl

It's Monday! What Are You Reading, is hosted by Book Journey, is where we gather to share what we have read this past week and what we plan to read this week. It is a great way to network with other bloggers, see some wonderful blogs, and put new titles on your reading list.

Here's my posts from the last week:

Two Weeks' Notice by Rachel Caine (Early Review)
Blood and Silver by James R. Tuck (Early Review)
Precinct 13 by Tate Hallaway (Early Review)

I can't believe I'm saying this, but Two Weeks' Notice blew Working Stiff right out of the water. As good as the first one was, this one shouldn't have been able to so easily surpass it, but it did. I loved it!

Blood and Silver was much better than the first installment in my opinion, but it still runs too much on the side of pulp fiction for my tastes.

I really enjoyed Precinct 13, and I hope to see more from these characters. I think it's a series, but I'm not sure. I'll just cross my fingers and hope.

I featured Widow's Web by Jennifer Estep for Waiting on Wednesday

Gah it's always hard when review copies stand in the way of releases we want to read.

I agree with you about Tuck's books - very pulp fiction. My copy of Precinct 13 will be arriving this week. I'm planning to attend her signing on Saturday. I'll ask if there are any more books planned in the series. I haven't tried Rachel Caine's new series because my TBR mountain is just too high to add anything new. I did love Thirteen and hope you do too. My Monday Report is here. Happy reading!

While I kind of liked Working Stiff, it didn't WOW me. After reading it, I felt ambivilent about it. So if the second one is BETTER...then maybe I'll see what it's like.

With books like the James Tuck - when you say pulp fiction, are you referring to the sheer amount of blood and gore? Cause when I'm reading and I read about lots and lots of blood, it kind of takes me out of the story, wondering if that's even possible, how far it would really spread or spray, etc.

Precinct 13 - hope it's good, because it sounds like it should be. :)

Granted, I loved Working Stiff, so I may be biased, but I think Two Weeks' was phenomenal.

I mean that the amount of excess of blood and gore is unnecessary. Basically the violence is just in there to be there. There is no purpose to it and it really turns me off.

Precinct 13 was definitely enjoyable.
