This Week's Question:

Unexpected Books: Which books did you have reservations about reading, but ended up loving once you did?

In all honesty I typically shy away from the crazy hyped up books. It may seen silly but I don't like to jump on bandwagons, especially since I never seem to enjoy those hyped books. They just seem too mainstream for me. Of course sometimes I have read and reviewed a hyped book, but that is typically because I received an early copy so I'm reading it before it went "blockbuster."

As far as the Hunger Games, I had been hearing about it non-stop and how great the books were. This was right around the time Mockingjay was being released. I'm not sure exactly why I gave in, but I'm really glad I did. I just love everything about these books, and so does my husband. (He listens to audiobooks.) There is just something about this series that really sticks with you for a long time. I'm also a fan of the movie and I felt they stayed very true to the story.

I will say that there is another bandwagon that I highly doubt I'll be jumping on, and that is the current 50 Shades of Gray phenomenon. Based on what I've heard, those books will definitely not be for me, and I just don't understand why they have become such a craze. Granted, I haven't read them, but I'm sure there are plenty of books out there that are a lot better. Erotic story or not, I don't want to hear about a character's inner goddess. Enough said.

I usually stay away from books that start to get overly popular. Unless of course it does interest me. But The Hunger Games never really appealed to me so I never bothered.

The books were actually pretty good. My husband loved the audiobooks.
I had reservations about reading the hunger games too, the first time I heard of the series was when the trailers started to show up for the film so after my sister read it and loved it I decided to read it not really knowing what to expect and it turns out I ended up loving it as well :)

Yeah, I'm really glad I gave in and decided to read the books.
I loved The Hunger Games series too - yes, they are so hyped, but I think they definitely deserve the recognition.

I still have reservations about these books! I haven't seen the movie either.
