Find Your Ever After in Under An Hour

Ruby Hill by Sarah Ballance

From her earliest memories, Ashley Pearce has been drawn to Ruby Hill Lunatic Asylum, and she's not the only one. Decades after the abandoned hospital ended its institutional reign of torture and neglect, something lurks in the shadows. Since she’s a paranormal investigator, it's Ashley's job to find out what.

Crime scene expert Corbin Malone doesn't believe in ghosts. A born skeptic, he has no interest in entertaining the hype surrounding the mysterious deaths at Ruby Hill, but he won't turn his back while more women die. He agrees to an overnight investigation, never expecting his first encounter would be with the woman he pushed away a year ago. But when he discovers Ashley is a target, he learns his greatest fear isn't living with his own demons, but losing her for good.

One Thousand and One Nights by Ruth Browne

Sheri spends her days fighting zombies and her nights chained to a wall, earning her every breath by telling stories to her captor Aleksy—stories that make them both forget the ruined world. Sheri could put up with the conditions—at least she knows her sister is safe in the community Aleksy leads—until she realizes she’s falling for him...even though he wants her dead.

When Aleksy allowed Sheri and her sister into his compound, he didn’t know about the zombie bite on her back. It's only a matter of time before she turns into one of the rising dead and threatens their existence, but Aleksy has a secret need for Sheri and her stories. For everyone’s safety, he chains her to his bedroom wall, hoping for just one more day. But how long will the community allow Aleksy to ignore his own rule: always kill the infected. Always.

Mercy by Jan Coffey

Julia Klein’s life has begun to unravel—her daughter Amy has been suspended from school, Julia is about to lose her job, and her boyfriend Garrett is being transferred thousands of miles away. Overwhelmed, she and Amy leave for a weekend at a rambling old colonial inn. Julia never suspects that Garrett, desperate to find a way to keep Julia in his life, has decided to surprise her by joining them. Nor does she expect her daughter to befriend a mischievous ghost...or that she herself would be possessed by the malevolent spirit of a long-dead mother.

As a dark secret emerges, Julia, Amy, and Garrett find themselves pitted in a fight for survival against a savage presence that intends to resurrect/repeat/relive a horrible crime committed two centuries ago. And this time, Amy and Julia will be the victims.

Haunted Chemisty by Lindsey Loucks

When bookish college co-ed Alexis heads to the laundry room in her new apartment, she runs into Ian Reese, the chem lab partner she crushed on all last semester. And the guy who stood her up on their first date. But she’s down for an awkward reunion, and no better place than her creepy laundry room.

Ian has every intention of making amends, but just when Alexis begins to trust him again, a new threat calls more than their future together into question. A ghost from the apartment’s past is hellbent on revenge, and if he wants to get his girl, he’ll have to get the ghost first.

Wish Upon a Star by Michelle McLean

Ceri McKinley never stopped wishing that her ex-fiancĂ© Jason Crickett would come back into her life. But when he finally does, he comes with a request that puts them both—and all of humanity—into jeopardy.

Jason only wants two things: to bury his brother properly and to convince Ceri to trust him again after he jilted her. But when Ceri agrees to help him get his brother back, they end up fighting for their lives as a zombie uprising threatens them all.

Northern Light by E.J. Russell

Nothing gives art fraud investigator Luke Morganstern a bigger rush than busting forgers, the low-life criminals who dare victimize true artists. But when his latest job sends him to a remote cabin in the Oregon Coast Range, he’s stunned to discover the alleged forger is his former lover, Stefan Cobbe, the most gifted painter Luke has ever known.

Stefan, left homeless and destitute after the death of his wealthy partner, doesn’t exactly deny the forgery -- he claims he doesn’t remember, an excuse Luke can’t accept.

But Luke’s elderly client suggests Stefan may be telling the truth and presents another possibility – a dark presence in the woods, a supernatural fury simmering for decades. Luke must face down his fear of the uncanny – and admit his feelings for Stefan – if either of them is to survive.

Sins of the Lost Blog Tour

, by Kt Clapsadl

*Where did you get the inspiration for the Grigory Legacy series?

My first inspiration came from the movie City of Angels...as much as I loved the movie, I found myself dissatisfied with how nice the angels were in it. I wondered what it would be like if angels really did exist, but they were less guardian-like and more warlike. The music in the movie was particularly inspiring, especially the song Angel, by Sarah McLachlan. The line “safe in the arms of the angel” helped me imagine a particularly poignant scene. The scene never made it into the book, of course, but it at least kickstarted the process!

* How many books are planned for the series? Any hints for what's up next if you do write more?

There will be a total of four books in the series. Sins of the Warrior will be the final one, and will wrap up Alex’s overall story arc...but I can’t divulge more than that. Sorry! ;-)

*If your books were to be made into a movie, who would be your top picks for the cast?

Not that my opinion would matter in the least if it happens, but I do have some very clear ideas on this topic, lol! For Aramael, I think Henry Cavill would be perfect. Dominic Purcell would make a great Seth, and Wes Bentley would be an awesome Michael. I’d be happy with either Michael Fassbender or Paul Walker for Lucifer, but no one other than Dame Judi Dench will ever be my One, I’m afraid. I’d love to see Verchiel done by Helen Mirrin, and for Alex, Anna Torv has always been my top pick.

*Could you tell us a little about the ups and downs you have experienced in publishing?

Wow. That’s a big question, because publishing is a difficult industry these days—and it’s not for the faint of heart. I’ve done the small press, traditional, and self-pub routes now, and each comes with its own challenges. I certainly wasn’t prepared for the amount of marketing I’d have to do for all the publishing venues, so that took some serious adjusting on my part. Overall, however, the ups definitely outweigh the downs. Finding an agent, signing with Penguin, seeing my books make it into the hands of readers...in fact, I’d say that last bit was the biggest up of them all, because what could possibly be better than seeing a dream come true? :-)

*What are some of your favorite books in the paranormal genre?

Hm...let’s see. In no particular order, I’d say the Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs; the True Blood series by Charlaine Harris; every single Dresden book Jim Butcher has ever written (that would actually be my top fave there!); and the Alex Verus series by Benedict Jacka.

*If you could tell readers one thing about yourself or your books, what would that be?

You’d never know to look at me that I write stuff this dark. Seriously. My own sister, on reading the first book in the series, called me up to say, “I shared a room with you for how many years without knowing this was how your brain worked?”

*What is the craziest or at least most interesting thing you have ever done?

I once took a 13-year-old and two 16-year-old girls on a roughly 4,100 km (2,500 mile), two-week road trip. One of the older girls had just broken up with her boyfriend the night before we left, and the other wanted us to leave her at home...on her own...for the two weeks. It was definitely what you’d call an “interesting” trip, lol. Not to mention insane. O.o

*Finish this statement: "You'll like the Grigori Legacy series if...

...you like cop stories that go beyond our world and into that of (hot) warrior angels!”

Thanks Linda!!

Author Info:

Linda Poitevin was born and raised in B.C., Canada’s westernmost province. Growing up in an era when writing was “a nice hobby, dear, but what are you going to do for a living?”, Linda worked at a variety of secretarial jobs before applying to be a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Due to an error in measurement, however, she was turned down when she didn’t meet the height requirement of that time. Undeterred, Linda became a civilian member in the force and was a dispatcher for two and a half years, during which time she met her husband, a police officer.

Following their transfer to Ottawa, Linda went on to become a real estate agent and then a human resources consultant before starting a family. She remained a stay-at- home mom, homeschooled her youngest daughter for nine years and, now that she has realized writing can be more than a nice hobby, she continues to live her dream of being a cop vicariously through her characters.

Linda currently lives near Ottawa with her husband, youngest of three daughters, one very large husky/shepherd/Great Dane-cross dog, a cat, two rabbits, and a bearded dragon lizard. When she isn’t writing, she can usually be found in her garden or walking her dog along the river or through the woods.

In addition to her books, Linda also does freelance writing and editing. Information about her services can be found at www.lindapoitevin.ca. Linda is a member of Science Fiction & Fantasy Writers of America, Quebec Writers’ Federation, Romance Writers of America, RWA Futuristic Fantasy Paranormal Chapter, and Ottawa Romance Writers’ Association.

From the author of Sins of the Angels and Sins of the Son comes the newest novel in the “electric, thrilling and extremely intelligent” (Ex Libris) Grigori Legacy series.

Heaven and Hell are on the brink of war as Lucifer builds his Nephilim army and waits for his new agenda to become a reality — that of having a Nephilimchild of his own bloodline to lead his forces to cataclysmic victory.

With rumors of the pending war rampant on Earth, Alex fights to save humanity from its own panic – leaving little time for her fledgling relationship with Seth, the man with heavenly origins who has captured her heart. But when Nephilim children begin to disappear, along with Alex’s own vulnerable niece, the inevitable war between Heaven and Hell becomes as personal as sin.

Heaven has its own plans to fight the coming apocalypse, but first it needs Seth back. Asked to betray the man she loves, Alex must turn for help to the soulmate she thought she’d given up — the Archangel Aramael, who may be her last chance to save her family and humanity from the ashes of Lucifer’s Armageddon.

Reviews for the past week:

Cursed by S.J. Harper (Early Review)
"CURSED is just one of those books that you can hunker down into for a great escape to lose yourself for a few hours, because trust me once you pick it up, you won't be able to put it down."

Tempt the Stars (Early Review)
"By all rights this is a 5 star book, when you account for the incredible amount of action, the new world building and the stellar characters, but when my own personal preferences on the romance and the fact that it has yet another cliffhanger ending, I have to knock this down to a 4."
